What is Write Now?

This is a writing prompt community meant to jump start the creative process for writers of any form (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, screenwriting, original work and fan work, literally anything).


What will I find here?

An alternating series of prompts, refreshed monthly. You will be able to access and respond to older prompt posts using the tags feature (see the !prompt post tag). Feel free to use any or all the prompts at any time. You do not need to be a member to peruse, but if you want to post your responses in any form, you will need to be an approved member.


How do I post my responses?

Members will be able to post their responses to the main community. Please utilize tags to organize your responses accordingly. Please utilize the following form for posting responses:

Character: If applicable.
Canon: If applicable.
Prompt: List the prompt to which you are responding, such as Nov 14 Picture Prompt #3, or just link to the prompt directly.
Response: Link to your own journal post here. Please do not link the response directly into the comm!

How do I utilize tags?

Response posts should be tagged in one or both of two ways: with a "canon" tag and a "character" tag, if applicable.

When joining, you will be asked to respond to the tag request post. If you do not see your character name or canon in the existing tag list, leave a comment and it will be added. Original characters will need to request a character tag for their full name.

If you are posting with an original character, the canon tag to use is "canon: original."


I want to submit a prompt!

OMG PLEASE DO. I don't have the capacity to sustain this entirely on my own. Any manner of prompts (picture, song, quotes, one word, craft-related) can be submitted at the Prompt Submission post. I will do my best to include them in future prompt posts.
